About Southern Taiwan Silicon Valley
Promotion Plan
To implement the President’s policy directive and shape Taiwan into an “AI Island,” the National Science and Technology Council has introduced the "Greater Southern New Silicon Valley Promotion Plan." Centered around four key strategies—“Augment Computing Power,” “Connect the Ecosystem,” “Attract Talent,” and “Expand AI Applications”—the plan integrates Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City with the surrounding semiconductor corridor spanning from Chiayi to Pingtung. It aims to achieve both "AI industrialization" and "industrial AI adoption," facilitating digital transformation across all sectors and building a robust Southern Taiwan industrial ecosystem. The Southern Taiwan Silicon Valley Promotion Office (STSVPO) is dedicated to integrating central and local governments, ministries, and academia-industry-research resources to support the development of the Southern Taiwan industrial ecosystem. Its efforts include enhancing Taiwan’s AI R&D capabilities, advancing high-power compound semiconductor applications and talent cultivation, demonstrating green ammonia-to-hydrogen conversion, fuel cell applications, other net-zero technologies, and smart grid demonstrations. Ultimately, the goal is to realize a “Balanced Taiwan,” a “Resilient Taiwan,” and a “Healthy Taiwan.”
